In humble stance before the throne,
waiting for a word,
God's mighty warring messengers
ever serve the risen Lord.
These ministers are spirits
in glorious attire,
their brightness from another world
appears as flames of fire
Sent by God to minister
to salvation's needy heirs,
the Lord's hand moves to send them
in answer to our prayers.
In their glory they're so awesome
men fall as dead in fear,
but in humbly serving strangers
we've served angels unaware.
They will not take our worship,
but always turn our eyes,
back to the the God of glory,
our Lord beyond the skies.
And remind us He is awesome,
to fix our eyes on Jesus' face.
For you see they're only angels,
but we're the objects of God's
grace.
