Bring my heart to the place
where it is resting in You,
not merely focused
on what You can do.
But trusting the person
Who is faithful and true,
full of compassion
and willing to do,
All You have promised
and clearly displayed,
as You took all my sin,
as Your own on that day.
My own heart is wicked
and I can't even trust
that my motives are pure
not tainted with lust.
So I hold to one promise
You are there by my side
giving grace for the race
and for me to abide,
In the embrace of Your presence
at the foot of the tree,
by the strength of Your Spirit
abiding in me.
