Seeking to gain
His place in the pond,
Holding on to a 'right,'
And then he was gone.
A fatal mistake
He made in the fight, His
move toward pre-eminence
Put him out in plain sight.
Then an enemy worse
Than the one with the claws
Was the very last sight
This 'winner' saw...
...As we cling to our rights
Seeking to win
Our spot on this planet,
We get swallowed by sin,
And have really nothing
To show for our pains,
As we lose what's eternal
In our temporal gains.
Luke 9:24-25 '... for what does a
man profited if he gains the whole
world and loses or forfeits himself.'
