Fatal Assumption
Assuming because
we cant see a foe,
that now we are good
to come out and to go.
Is a fatal assumption
because he is not gone away,
hes been biding his time,
now its our time to pay.
We all have an enemy,
the father of lies,
to assume hes not real
is extremely unwise.
For we fall for his ploys
since weve nothing to fear,
then we sing right along
to his tunes in our ear.
Singing I can decide
what is right, what is wrong,
and other key verses
of that ancient song.
Til we assume theres no God
who will judge us for sin,
the most certain way
to let the enemy win.
J. Christopher White
Be sober of spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary,
the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion,
seeking someone to devour.
I Peter 5:8
and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are
perishing. They perish because they refused to love
the truth and so be saved.
